Fistula

A fistula-in-ano is an abnormal tunnel that forms between the anal canal and the skin near the anus. It usually develops after an infection or abscess in the anal glands and causes repeated discharge, pain, and discomfort. Since fistulas rarely heal on their own, surgical or laser treatment is the most effective solution.

Symptoms of Fistula :

  • Discomfort during sitting or bowel movements.
  • Repeated anal abscesses.
  • Irritation, itching, or foul odor.
  • Recurrent pain and swelling.
  • Persistent discharge of pus or blood from an opening near the anus.

Treatment Options:

1. servative Care:

  • Lifestyle & dietary advice for symptom relief.
  • Medications to control infection and pain.

2. Laser Fistula Surgery (FiLaC – Fistula Laser Closure):

  • A minimally invasive, painless procedure.
  • Laser energy seals the fistula tract from inside.
  • Minimal bleeding, no major cuts, and faster healing.

3. Surgical Options:

  • Fistulotomy – opening and cleaning of the fistula tract
  • Seton Placement – for complex fistulas to allow gradual healing
  • Advancement Flap Procedure – for recurrent or complicated cases
